| The Advantages
& Benefits of Using a Freight Forwarder like Global Forwarding
(West) limited |
| These
days industry buzz words like "Global Logistics" and Supply
Chain Management" roll off the tongue with ever increasing
alacrity. Most forwarders will gladly explain that they
have been providing "logistics" services for their customers
long before the word became fashionable. After all,
planning and arranging international transport within a dedicated
timescale and cost structure is a basic requirement for forwarding
practice. |
Many traditional
freight forwarders like Global Forwarding, continue to make
a living by offering customers a personal "hands-on"
service which has developed out of a relationship of trust
over a number of years.
It is often much easier for a customer to deal with one
contact for all world-wide destinations, rather than
being transferred around a large international organisation
where everything tends to be departmentalised.
In years gone by, the smaller forwarder may often have struggled
to always get the most competitive price, but quality of service
was rarely lacking. These days however, the smaller
forwarder is better placed than ever before
to offer customers the best prices and quality service.
A combination of lower overheads, better motivated staff and
closer relationships with all suppliers, only goes to enforce
this belief. |

|
| Like
anything else, choosing a freight forwarder is about choice.
However it may be wise to make sure that the forwarder of
your choice is a member of the British International Freight
Association (BIFA), if you want to ensure a high degree of
professionalism, adequate insurance liability cover and support
of recognised standard trading conditions. Global is
a full and active member of BIFA – Registration
Number 1606. |
| A freight forwarder may
be large enough to have its own offices overseas but at the
very least will have an overseas network of agents like Global
Forwarding. Through the agent the forwarder can arrange
'take-over' of the goods in that country either to arrange
domicile delivery or collection. In addition many forwarders
have developed management information systems providing order
monitoring, cargo tracking and tracing and
a pre-alert of goods in transit. |
